Vassil Donev


Graduated in 1980 from the Technical University of Varna as Engineer of Electronics. Substantial part of the career passed at the Institute of Oceanology of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences where main responsibilities were focused on the development of the first off-coast information system for monitoring of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.

In 1989 received a PhD degree from the Shirshov Institute of Oceanology in Moscow on integration of large scientific information systems.

Between 1990 and 1993 worked for the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research of South Africa and the T-Coor Consulting Group in the same country. Major responsibilities on these positions were to conduct surveys and propose solutions for technical and organizational improvement of large industrial companies from the heavy industry.

From 1993 till 1999 worked as independent consultant and Executive Director of Bulgarian financial and investment consulting company, holding assignments like establishment of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange, Setting up of the Bulgarian Social Investment Fund, etc. Between 1999 and 2001 hold the post of a Regional Director of the National Employment Agency and since 2001 moved to the Technical University of Varna as lecturer and Head of the International Projects' Department.

Holds a MSc Degree in Banking and Bank management from the University of Economics of Varna and certified as financial adviser by the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Laboratori Guglielmo Marconi (LABS) is an engineering company which provides highly skilled solutions in the design, development and implementation of wire-line and wireless communication systems, networks and solutions. LABS designs and follows the implementation of building, campus, and wide area networks, relying both on fibre and wireless technologies (WiFi, TETRA, point-to-point and point-to-multipoint links). Applications cover data, voice, CATV, video surveillance, and global connectivity.

LABS has developed its own proprietary solutions for remote network monitoring and management, which detects any critical events on the network before they produce noticeable effects for end-users. This software application is flexible and fully programmable and yields real-time, dynamic snapshots of the status of all network objects. LABS has also played an active role in smart card and digital signature applications, Internet technologies for public administrations (e-government), and ICT applications for the transportation sector.
