EU-Pay Service demos
Electronic payments have become a very developed sector in the past few years. A number of emerging technologies have been adopted in order to implement new payment systems to be offered to the market. The main focus of the services that have been already proposed remain however based on the usage of on-line instruments to support financial transactions and the support of credit/debit cards as "electronic money".One of the sectors that has been identified as being capable of offering to the market of electronic payments a large number of transactions is the public sector. Looking at the most recent IDABC annual conference (February 2005), many studies stressed that the public sector and its "customers" are demanding support for electronic payments.

In CAP, EU-Pay was trialled for payment of school transportation services. The channels used by CAP were mobile phones and the Internet. Results from surveys showed that families in the CAP region would be keen to pay for school transportation at the supermarket as well as the channels being trialled. Therefore, CAP is in talks with Auchan, a national supermarket, to trial EU-Pay in their shops in the future.

In the future, Sheffield is keen to trial payments at supermarkets and online, and would aim to integrate the payment system into the Council's back office system.

Varna
The Bulgarian partner - Varna Technical University - implemented as part of the validation of the EU-Pay services an Internet WEB based channel for payment of students' semester fees. The service was aimed at demonstrating both ability for optimization of the university administration operations and potential for further development and widening of E-payment services in the national economy. The channel was designed and operated in strict compliance with the national banking and accounting standards. Accumulated experience from this pilot was further used in implementing wider range of EU-Pay services through other institutions and corporate units.
An example of the service may be seen on http://eupay.mis.bg/index.html?/l1/eu-pay/index.php~main
