EU-Pay Disseminates at the International eParticipation Symposium!

The EU-Pay project's second Dissemination Workshop took place at the International eParticipation Symposium in London on 28th and 29th February 2008.

The workshop was split into two activities - Presentations at a Symposium session and a 'Drop-in' Surgery. This split approach allowed delegates at the event the opportunity to find out about the EU-Pay project and then talk to project partners one-on-one.

The EU-Pay session - Pan European Projects: What's new for cross border citizen empowerment? - was chaired by Dr Julia Glidden (from the Sheffield EU-Pay project team) and was addressed by Paolo Boscolo of Comune di Prato and Albinas Baciliunas, an ePayments expert from Lithuania who is interested in partnering with the EU-Pay project moving forward.

The session was well attended and demonstrated the benefits of the EU-Pay system to citizens, as well as Public Administrations. As Julia Glidden stated in her introductory speech: 'The EU-Pay project is designed to empower all citizens to take full advantage of the eGovernment revolution'.

The event was a huge success, with 300 delegates attending the Symposium and a great deal of interest in the EU-Pay project, both at the session and the 'Drop-in' surgery. Ministers from the UK, Latvia and the USA spoke at the event and significant decision makers from across Europe were present.
